I plan on submitting work to the Fort Rouge United Church's annual Art Exhibition, this year developed around the theme - "Intersections". As a Canadian artist, who immigrated to this country 9 years ago, I have experienced the convergence of cultures, lifestyles and identities.


It has not been easy to navigate, nor has it been easy to articulate. This painting captures only certain aspects of that continuing process.

What is interesting is that all things come to a head - all changes, and transitions, including the conflicts of different worlds and ideas - in the place of identity, which is here symbolized by the face.

The exciting part of all this is that I was also asked to speak about my experiences as a foreign born artist navigating through all that it means to be practicing art in Canada. Look forward to sharing more information about the event soon!
