Completed in the beginning of 2015 with a palette knife, this piece was part experiment and part skill-test.
I still remember how I felt creating this. I had no idea what the end result was going to look like. It was as if, limited to the self-imposed constraints of a palette knife, I took all my cues from a place deep down within me. Each stroke made by my palette knife seemed to be punctuated by my every breath, producing unplanned, unpredictable, and untamable life.
What turned out, one might say, was a snapshot of a part of my soul: the violets, and blues were reflecting the dormant, brooding depths, while the sparks of new life erupting in fiery light everywhere were coming together like a consuming fire.
Eruption is about life.
But it is about the dormant, and deep life within this heart, daring to break out uncontained, refusing to be denied any longer.
